Equilibrium is a boutique nature reserve nestled in the cloud forests above Jericó, Antioquia, at 2,050 m — on the edge of a private reserve home to waterfalls, hiking trails, vegetable gardens, and 84+ recorded bird species.
We built this place around a simple idea: that the best travel experiences come from slowing down, connecting with nature, and feeling genuinely at home. Josie lives on site and is always close by. Diego, our groundskeeper, tends the gardens and cares for the birds each morning. Organic vegetables grow throughout the property — all free for guests to take.

Mochi and Nucita live on the property and are part of the Equilibrium family. Please treat them with care and affection and notify us of any concerns. Mochi is very friendly and enjoys greeting guests near the lower cabin, but understands boundaries and will not enter the cabin unless invited.
Diego will come by every morning to lay out food for the birds. He won't disturb you and will be in and out quickly.

Getting Here

Your gate access code and cabin door code will be provided to you after your digital check-in is complete.
Once you arrive at your cabin, enter your cabin door code and turn the dial to open the door.
WiFi Network: Equilibrium — password provided after digital check-in.
Once inside, locate the mini carriel bag on the kitchen counter — it contains the BFT gate remote. Keep this on you whenever leaving the property. Press the top left button on the remote to open and close the entrance gate.
If you forget the carriel, you can let yourself out by pressing the button under the black box on the right side of the gate as you exit. Please let us know so we can close the gate after you. We keep the gate closed at all times — especially from 4PM to 6AM and all day Saturday and Sunday.
Once in town, turn right on Calle 5 — look for the "Parqueadero" sign. At the end of the road turn right and you will see our entrance gate. Park in the space next to your cabin.
After the gate there is a short, steep (~25°) paved road. Fine for ~90% of vehicles but slippery when wet. If in doubt, park at the lot next to the entrance gate.
Take the bus via Bolombolo from Terminal del Sur, Medellín (~2.5–3 hrs). Ask the driver to stop at Montaña Parrilla Burger. Walk to the end of Calle 5 — entrance on the right.
A private taxi or van is highly recommended — only ~$2 more than the bus and much more comfortable. Cost: ~44,000 COP (~$11 USD). We can help coordinate.
Note: tuk-tuks are not powerful enough to make it up the hill to the property. If getting back from the main square, we recommend taking a newer taxi.
Cameras are located at the entrance gate, lower cabin, and upper parking lot — monitored for your safety.
The Rustic Cabin
Inside the Cabin · How Everything Works
- Bedroom — Cabin lights at the entrance and around the workspace. Books available — please do not take them as they have sentimental value.
- Bathroom — Turn handles left for hot water. Let the water run ~15 seconds before it gets hot.
- Towels — White towels: indoor use. Gray towels: jacuzzi use.
- Kitchen — Cooking utensils in the cabinets, available for your use.
- Laundry — Available on request. Washer with hang-dry. Just ask.
- Trash — Leave rubbish in the bin. Longer stays: recycling/compost instructions provided.
Important: Always turn off the heater when the jacuzzi is not in use. Leaving the heater running unattended can overheat the water and damage the system.
Important: Always keep the water above the intake (circular metallic part on the side). Running the motor with the intake exposed can permanently damage the system.
- Gas BBQ — Ready to use. Turn the knob and ignite.
- Outdoor Firepit — Available on request. Let us know and we will set it up for you.
You can order food or groceries from town and have them delivered directly to the cabin — drivers come straight up. Delivery fees are $1–3 USD, usually under an hour.
If the gate is closed when the driver arrives, you can share the gate code with the trusted drivers on the list below.

The Cloud Forest Reserve

As a guest at Equilibrium you have full access to the cloud forest reserve and on-property hiking trails. The reserve is home to 84+ recorded bird species — more than a quarter of all species in the Jericó municipality.
